Job Summary
The Forklift Operator (Sit-Down) is responsible for safely operating sit-down counterbalance forklifts equipped with either fork attachments or clamps to move, stack, and organize materials, products, and goods throughout the warehouse and fulfillment facility. The operator ensures compliance with safety regulations, maintains equipment in good working condition, and contributes to efficient warehouse operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Safely operate sit-down forklifts with fork or clamp attachments to transport, stack, and organize materials and finished goods
Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments according to manifests and shipping labels
Move materials between warehouse departments, storage areas, and staging zones with accuracy and efficiency
Stack pallets and goods to maximum height and density while maintaining safety and product integrity
Perform vehicle inspections prior to operation and report any mechanical defects or hazards to management
Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory locations as required
Adhere to all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and warehouse procedures
Communicate with warehouse team members to coordinate material flow and prevent congestion
Clean and maintain work areas to ensure safe operating conditions
Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
Operate equipment at appropriate speeds and maintain control in all warehouse conditions
Assist with cycle counting, inventory verification, and other warehouse tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of forklift operation experience (sit-down counterbalance preferred)
Valid OSHA Forklift Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
Ability to read and understand warehouse documentation, labels, and safety signs
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with multiple attachment types (clamps, forks, rotators)
Experience in 3PL or fulfillment warehouse environments
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS)
Bilingual capability (English/Spanish or English/Mandarin)
Valid driver's license
Prior experience with reach trucks or other warehouse equipment
Required Certifications & Training
OSHA Forklift Certification (49 CFR 1910.178)
Company-specific safety and warehouse orientation training
ONUS operational procedures training (SOPs, equipment, WMS)
Working Conditions
Standard full-time schedule with potential for overtime during peak seasons. The employee may be required to work various shifts (morning, evening, weekend) based on operational needs. Work is performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, temperature variations, dust, and forklift traffic.
