Quality Inspector / Calibration Technician

The Quality Inspector / Calibration Technician is responsible for ensuring that products, materials, and measuring equipment meet company, customer, and industry quality standards. This position performs receiving, in-process, first-piece, final, and calibration inspections using precision measuring equipment and established quality procedures. The role maintains accurate inspection and calibration records, supports compliance with ISO and AS9100 standards, and works closely with production to ensure the manufacture of quality products while promoting continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform receiving inspections of incoming raw materials, castings, hardware, and purchased components to verify compliance with engineering drawings and purchase orders. Specifications and certifications.
Conduct first-piece, in-process, final, and calibration inspections using approved inspection methods, control plans, and sampling procedures.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Perform dimensional and visual inspections utilizing precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
Maintain calibration records for all company-owned and employee-owned measuring gages using the GAGEtrak calibration management system.
Calibrate company and employee gages according to established calibration schedules using measurement standards traceable to NIST.
Check customer-supplied gages in and out while maintaining proper identification and traceability.
Manage calibration recall activities and ensure calibration records remain accurate and current within GAGEtrak.
Record inspection and calibration data accurately and maintain complete documentation in accordance with company quality procedures and ISO standards.
Apply statistical quality control (SQC) techniques and analyze inspection data when required.
Approve first-piece inspections by verifying product conformance through visual and dimensional inspections.
Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming materials or products and assist with corrective actions as required.
Ensure inspection reports, calibration certificates, and quality documentation are completed accurately and maintained for traceability.
Support internal and external quality audits by providing inspection and calibration records.
Maintain inspection and calibration equipment in proper working condition.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required, technical or vocational training in Quality, Manufacturing preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of quality inspection or calibration experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Technical Knowledge
Knowledge of quality inspection principles and manufacturing processes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Working knowledge of ISO quality management systems and documentation requirements.
Experience with GAGEtrak or similar calibration management software preferred.
Understanding of Statistical Quality Control (SQC) methods.
Ability to perform shop mathematics, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry.
