We are seeking an experienced Unlawful Detainer Senior Attorney to join our team. This position is ideal for a seasoned attorney who has extensive California litigation experience, strong courtroom skills, and the ability to independently manage cases while building strong client relationships.
Position Summary
The Senior Attorney will primarily handle residential and commercial unlawful detainer matters, including conducting client consultations, developing litigation strategy, managing cases through resolution, and appearing in court. This position will also support the firm's growing probate and estate planning practice.
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced attorney who is confident handling matters independently, enjoys working directly with clients, and is interested in contributing to the continued growth of a dynamic law firm.
Responsibilities
Conduct unlawful detainer consultations with prospective clients and evaluate potential matters.
Manage residential and commercial unlawful detainer matters from intake through trial and post-judgment proceedings.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents.
Appear at hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, and trials.
Negotiate resolutions and provide strategic legal advice to clients.
Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding case status and expectations.
Handle probate administration matters.
Prepare estate planning documents, including trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advance health care directives, and related documents.
Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to ensure efficient case management.
Qualifications
Active member of the California State Bar in good standing.
8-10 years of experience practicing law in California.
Extensive experience handling California unlawful detainer litigation.
Significant courtroom, hearing, and trial experience.
Experience conducting client consultations and converting prospective clients into retained matters.
Probate administration experience preferred.
Estate planning experience preferred, including preparation of trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and advance health care directives.
Strong legal writing, research, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload.
